Welcome to the 2007 Habitat for Humanity of South Collin County Women Build
Project!
Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages
women and girls to make a difference by building homes and communities for
deserving families around the world. Local Collin County women have built four
homes in the historic Douglass Community in East Plano since 2001. The 2007
Women Build home will be built near downtown in Wylie, Texas.

On Saturday, May 12th, framing of the 2007 Women Build house began at 408A
Jackson in Wylie. Over 300 women will help complete the house alongside our
homeowner, Christine Walk, and her 8 year old son, Johnathan. The energy and
excitement of having 300+ women turn a concrete slab into a finished home in a
few short weeks is amazing to be a part of!
This year's house leaders are Stephanie Everett, Diane Nall, and Sureka
Surparaju. In addition to our wonderful house leaders, we have a dedicated group
of crew chiefs who show up each and every build day to help our volunteers learn
new building skills as well as enjoy being part of a team making a difference in
our community. This will be the first Habitat home to be built and dedicated in
Wylie.
Mother Nature has been great for our yards and area lakes this spring; however,
she has played havoc with our build schedule. We have recently extended our
build schedule by adding a few extra days. We are in need of volunteers for
Saturday, June 23rd and Saturday, June 30th.
This year's corporate sponsors include Pepsico, Cadbury-Schweppes, ESI, Keller
Williams, 1st International Bank, and Ann Dunham Insurance Agency. In kind
donations of materials and services have been provided by Insulation for Life,
Wylie Carpet & Tile, Dallas Plumbing Company, Larry DeBerry, Home Depot, All
Pest Solutions, Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
Many local businesses and churches have helped provide care and feeding for our
volunteers. Many thanks to PepsiCo, Gatorade, Aquafina, Frito-Lay, Quaker,
Cadbury-Schweppes, Chipotle, Olive Garden, Texas Land & Cattle, Sonic, Pizza
Hut, Starbucks, Dickey's Barbeque, Albertson's, Target, St. Anthony Catholic
Church, and Wylie United Methodist Church.
Dedication of the home to the Walk family is TBD. We invite all of our volunteers, sponsors, and members of
the local community to join us for this very special event!
This is the fourth Women Build house for our affiliate and the third since 2005
built in conjunction with Mother's Day. We plan to make this an annual event so
if you are interested being a sponsor for next year's build, please contact
Patti Fisk, Board President and Women Build Chairperson, at .
