This past spring
Prestonwood Baptist Church of Plano completely sponsored
a home both financially and in the supplying of volunteer workers.
Pope John Paul II High School is planning to build a Habitat
house on its campus and have it moved to a permanent site. We
are asking members of the faith community in Plano, Wylie, Allen
and the rest of South Collin County to participate in this year’s
Faith Build.
This is an excellent opportunity to have a meaningful hands-on,
practical mission in your own back yard. You can make a difference
by helping to build decent, affordable housing for a deserving
family. |
What is the level of commitment to participate
in Faith Build?
To be a sponsor of Hfh-SCC’s 2006 Faith Build requires a monetary commitment
of $3,000 and a volunteer commitment of one Saturday work day.
Is this charity?
Definitely not. The families who become our homeowners must qualify for
a Habitat loan for an interest free 20-25 year no-interest loan that the
family must make payments on like any normal mortgage. In addition, prior
to taking possession of their new home, they must have completed at least
400 hours of work on Habitat projects, including their own home.
You can help volunteer and help us build the house! There's absolutely
no experience necessary.
