Women Build 2009

September 11th marks the start of Women Build 2009. 1109 H Avenue in the historic Douglass Community will be the site for the Habitat-SCC's 6th Women Build.
An event planned for framing day will focus on honoring the families who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001, recognizing the women who protect and support our community. On hand to mark the special significance of the occasion will be state and local officials, corporate representative from the area, along with local women police officers, firefighters, military personnel, and many other local dignitaries from throughout our service area. The event will end as we join together with a deserving South Collin County family to drive the first nail into the new home that will provide them with a safe and secure future.

Women Build is Habitat’s volunteer program for women who want to learn construction skills and make a difference by building homes and communities.

Women Build projects are regularly held by Habitat affiliates across the United States, and by Habitat organizations around the world. Women at these builds have furthered Habitat’s home-building mission by helping to construct more than 1,500 houses.

We need construction volunteers to help build the house as well as logistics support in the care and feeding of the build volunteers. There are numerous ways to get involved. To volunteer your time and talents Click Here to sign up.
